Overview
Successor to ChatGPT Images 2.5, shipped in ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex across all tiers. Adds animated GIF output from prompts or photos and saved reference images of people, pets and characters for reuse across generations. Ships in the API as two models again: GPT-Image-2.6 Flare, the speed tier, and GPT-Image-2.6 Sunburst, aimed at higher-quality generation and consistency across edits, with image markup and SVG export. OpenAI claims 50% faster generation without naming the baseline or how it was measured.
